Ar'ynn and Saith's weyr

As usual, you see the dragon couch off to one side. As an odd quirk, however, there is a small bundle in the middle of it. You take a careful step towards it, reaching out a hand hesitantly. You grip the end of the dark pink cloth and are about to pull it up. "What are you doing?"

You spin around, expecting to be reprimanded. Instead, you see a boy grinning at you. He looks only fifteen or so. He has deeply tanned skinned, and a shock of very curly black hair on his head. A pair of brown eyes shine at you. The lopsided grin on his face immediately sets you to rest. You point to the cloth, but before you can say anything he nods. "No. It's not a dwarfed dragon. It's probably Roat." He motions for you to pull up the blanket, and as you do a small green heads pokes out at you, looking around curiously. It chirps once at you before struggling out of the blanket and standing up on the stone. It sits there for a moment, watching you.

"The real dragon is my Saith. He's right outside the weyr." The young man takes you by the arm and leads you out into the sunlight. He points a finger and you look towards the Weyr Lake, which is rather close to the ledge and down one floor. A bronze dragon sits at the lake, soaking up the sun happily.

You turn around to congratulate him but you find the boy no longer there. Rushing into the weyr to find him you collide with him in the hall. As you start to apologize he laughs, shaking his head. "Please don't, it's no big deal." He bend down to pick up the cloth and the jar of oil, which is thankfully all in one piece. "I'm so clumsy I probably would have anyway."

Two shadows are following him down the hall, and when your eyes widen he turns around to see them. Laughing again, he reaches down and scoops them up. The two brown firelizards look at you, mischief sparkling in their eyes, and then they take wing and disappear /between/. At that moment the bronze dragon enters the weyr. He rumbles something to the boy and disappears into the dragon chamber. A few moments later light breathing is heard. He puts his fingers to his lips and leads you back out onto the ledge and into the sun.

"My name is A'rynn, and I'm guessing I should probably tell you a bit about myself." He sits down on the ground, leaning against the stone wall of the weyr. "I have one sister, her name is Arasta. Our father is the Captain of a ship called the RedStar Rising. Myself and Arasta grew up on the ship with most of them as family. We were involved in a shipwreck one day. I myself was thrown overboard, Arasta had the sense to catch onto a mast. I hit my leg on the bow of the ship when I went over." He paused in his talking to lift on leg of his black breeches. A long scar traveled from his ankle up the back of his leg well beyond were his pants were lifted to the knee. "I can't run at all, and jogging is also out of the question. The fastest you'll see me go is maybe a brisk walk." He grins again, shrugging slightly. "Myself and a few others who were injured were left here at Asura for the remainder of the trip. Arasta was dropped off as my guardian, though I don't think she had many objections. They searched me a few weeks afterwards, and Arasta not long after that. Arost was mad. That's my father." He was grinning broadly again. "Threw quite a fit right her in the Weyr Bowl. He delt with it though. Now he thinks it quite an advantage to have two of his children as dragonriders. Considering there's fifteen of us, I think it worked out pretty well myself." He grinned at you as your eyes widened. Fifteen?!

He stood up, brushing himself off as a few of the firelizards flew over to you. The green landed on his shoulder, while the two browns fight over one of yours. "I was Searched by SouthSeas Weyr soon after, and I Impressed Saith in there. He's an adult now, but he still acts like a Hatchling. Sleeping, eating, and sunbathing are what he's best at." He grins at you, creeping back into the hall of the weyr. "I Impressed these three at a stop at Bay Hold. They were my first real contact with dragons three years ago. The two browns are Brody and Nevar, and you've already met Roat." He grins, throwing the mentioned lizard off his shoulder and into the air. She flies over to the corner.

You notice the equipment now that you didn't get to see before. His weyr is simple, yet slightly disorganized. He sits down in a chair, looking around. It's obvious he doesn't know what to say anymore, and neither do you. You smile at him, extending your hand. "Maybe I'll go visit that sister of yours you were talking about."

He smiles again, clapping you on the back. "Have fun, she Impressed a little green at SouthSeas. Try and stop in again sometime, I have the feeling Saith'll be growing up really soon." He winks and watches you leave the weyr. He loves to talk it seems, but he's generally nice. But it does make you begin to wonder what his sister is like.
