Weyrwoman Second Bryna
and Gold Auraniath
The weyr you enter next is spacious, but not as large as that of the Senior Weyrwoman's next to it. You enter the large entrance to the weyr and into the large dragon room. The couch to the right is fairly large, and very worn. You see a small hall angling off to one corner, and you start down it. It opens into a fairly large living chamber, with the bathing room to the right closed off by a curtain.
Perhaps the most outstanding piece in the room is a tapestry hanging on one wall. A young woman is painted there, sitting in a serene scene with a harp before her. Her eyes are closed, and her black hair cascades down her back. Her fingers are poised at the harp as if ready to play. You see the same harp across the room, sitting on the floor.
You walk over to the harp, and you run your hand across it to hear it finely tuned. You take your gaze around the room, and notice that it is very simpley decorated for being so large. You wonder at what occupant would live in such a place and not make use of it. A slight breeze billows the curtain and tapestry, and you hear a sound out in the dragon's room. You quickly run out to meet the owner of the weyr.
A girl stands beside a large gold dragon. The dragon is small, even for a queen, though by the looks of her she's full grown.. The girl that quickly dismounts seems familliar, and you suddenly recognize her as the girl from the painting. She turns to look at you, her eyes closed. As you wonder at this feat, you notice her dragon studying you carefully and you realize it isn't she that is seeing you.
The girl walks over to you and stands before you for a moment. When you don't say anything, expecting her to introduce herself, she frowns slightly. "Well, it would have been nice to introduce yourself and tell me why you're in my weyr, but I'll take a wild guess and presume you are a visitor. My name is Bryna, and I am the Weyrwoman Second of Asura Weyr. This lovely girl is Auraniath, and she is my queen. We're the second full grown queen pair of Asura."
She leads you back into the living cavern, and you are surprised at how well she handles herself. She somehow picks up on this, and as she sits down on the corner of the bed she smiles wryly. "You grow accustomed to a place when you've lived in it for so long. I came here when Auraniath was only a hatchling, and no she's an adult." A smile comes to her lips, but vanishes almost as quickly. A blue firelizard appears out of /between/ and lands on her shoulder. He looks at you for a moment before tilting his head to one side and chirping at you.
"His name is Visions, a name rather fitting when he was my only eyes." He rubs his head against her cheek and croons softly. "I guess you'd like to learn a bit about me. I've lived here all my life, at the Weyr that is. My father is Weyrlingmaster J'simo and my mother is greenrider Bryke. I have one brother, Setlan, who created that magnificent tapestry for me on the right wall." She points to it, unknowing that you've already seen it.
"My aunt is Weyrwoman Kayan. She's a lovely woman, though she was quite hesitant to let me stand. Auraniath let me see the look of surprise on her face when I Impressed. It was beautiful, but I couldn't help but laugh. She's been very encouraging, as has everyone." A touch of annoyance comes into her voice, and you wonder if perhaps she's been fussed over a bit too much.
"Perhaps you'd like the reason for this." She waves her hand towards her eyes, which flutter open to reveal linguid looking grey eyes. They close almost immediately, and she grins sarcastically. "It's rather simple really. I was over confident and thought I could scale the wall of the Weyr Bowl and beat another boy to the top. I lost my holding, fell, and took him with me. The easiest way to say it is that..." She paused, the irony dripping in her voice. "He hit the Weyr Lake, and I missed it."
She stood abruptly, Visions chirping at the sudden movement and disappearing again. She winced at the sound, then began to walk out the hall, presuming you follow. "You'll have to be leaving now, I just fed Auraniath and I need to oil her before she falls to sleep." You see the Queen's eyes are drooping, and nod.
As you walk away you catch a look of love in the girl's face, a look you had yet to see while being there. It is for the dragon, the beautiful Jr. Queen. Bryna's attitude could perhaps use some work, but she's a truly beautiful person. You decide to move on, and leave the two alone.
