You open your mouth, so excited to meet someone who can hear dragons. But before you can finish your sentance, Gaylvi's head snaps up and her eyes narrow lightly. You cut your sentance short, biting your lower lip as the anger fades from her face and she sits up. "It's not like I can talk to them whenever I want to. I hear what they say and respond out loud. I don't even get to pick who I want to talk to and who I want to ignore!" She falls back on the bed, letting out a whoosh of breath as her sheets fluff out lightly. She lowers her voice purposefully, glancing out into the cavern where her young queen sleeps. "To be truthful, it's been a curse and a gift." "I didn't mean to offend you. I guess you hear that a lot." You pause for a moment, grinning as she snickers with a smile. "Usually when people say something like that, though, they follow it up with an explanation." You grin at her as she sits up and grins wryly back at you. "Well then, if you must know. When I was a child I attended a Turn's End celebration here at the Weyr. I was with the other weyrbrats most of the night, laughing and dancing with each other. One of the Wingleaders walked by us and I recognized him. I followed him over to the punch table and then said I wanted to ask him a question. His weyrmate walked up and smile down at me, then she told me to go ahead. I then turned to her and asked her what G'vron, the Wingleader, meant when he told his Wingsecond that he meant when he said she was the type of woman to probably die with her legs spread." She stops as you start to laugh, then grins over at you and leans back against the headboard of her bed. "Obviously, Meesa wasn't happy with G'vron. She smacked him right there and then. She walked away and neither of them talked to eachother ever again. Meesa later asked how I had found that out, and I told her that G'vron's Kornath had commented on it when his rider said it, and I'd heard him. She immediately whisked me away to Landara and told her all about it." Gaylvi wrinkles her nose, shaking her head. "I suppose the gift of it was that I was put up for Candidacy three Turns later when I became twelve." "And the curse?" You tilt your head to one side, leaning back against the table without a chair. She looks up and over at you with a wry, sad grin. "That I hear dragons even though it took me over four Turns to Impress one of my own." She glances out towards the cavern, an uncharecteristic smile on her face. "I went from Weyr to Weyr, always with the same bad result. Then I tried Jerdan Weyr and..." She shrugs her slender shoulders, leaning back on her hands with a gentle smile. "Well, bad luck never lasts forever," you say, smiling back at her. She looks over at you, the wry grin back on her face, a look which she seems to carry often. "I've heard that so many times I used to snicker when someone said it. S'pose that now it's been proved to me it doesn't seem to bad." {{Gaylvi, Lyn wants to tell you something.}} She puts a finger out towards you, tilting her head to one side. [[I thought Gellyn said that she was going to wait and see me at midday meal?]] {{Fine. But I thought I'd tell you...}} [[What, Rhettath? What is it?]] Gaylvi gives an exhasperated sigh, rolling her eyes lightly and grinning at you. {{Auraniath's coming.}} Gaylvi jumps off of her small bed in such a rush that you stand up straight from leaning on the table and almost run over to help her. "Shard it!" She walks over to you quickly. "Thanks for visiting, harper. Maybe next time I can tell you some more dragon horror stories like G'vran's. However, right now I've got a horror story of my own starting up. Rhettath's just infromed me that I'm getting a visit from our *dear* Weyrwoman Second." She grins wryly, showing that perhaps she doesn't get along with Bryna. Sarcastic personalities do tend to collide.. "I've got some tasks I've been... avoiding... this morning." Her grin turns from sarcastic to almost michievious. "Good luck to you Journeyman! Hope to see you posted at the Weyr!" She ducks back inside, leaving you to walk through the cavern by yourself. A sleepy Nemsiath raises her head as you walk out, crooning a low farewell before setting her head back down and closing her eyelids again. You duck out of the side of the cavern, seeing the familiar gold form of Auraniath circling down to land next to the weyr. You wave and the young queen gives you a curt nod, leaning down to let her blind rider slide off of her back. You quickly walk away, not fancing a run-in with the Ice Queen herself.
