You sit back in your chair, stretching your neck a bit. The weyr still isn't decorated much, though you can account that to its occupant having been there for such a short time. It seems almost frighteningly empty, however... "Don't you have any pets here to keep you company?" Shaethe nods, then pauses for a moment. "Yes, I have a pair of firelizards. They went up to the Rim to sun themselves this morning." She pauses for another moment, and you can assume that she's calling them. Seconds later the two pop out of /between/ in the middle of the room. The larger of the two is a cinnamon brown flit. He wings around for a moment, chirping at Shaethe curiously and then catching sight of you. Flying down, he lands on her footboard and stares across the room at you, blinking his large, whirling eyes as they swirl with color. You can now see that his wing membranes are quite a bit lighter than his body, and his ear-knobs and ridges are darker. His multifaceted eyes whirl with green contentment, slightly twinged with the soft blue of curiousity. The small green lands on the table not far away from you, tilting her head to one side and crooning lightly. You reached out a hand slowly and she sniffs at it for a moment before rubbing the side of her cheek against it. Her hide is a vibrant, brilliant color of light greens that shimmers in the light coming in from the dragon cavern. Her eyes watch you intently and she falls into a soft cooing noise as you go to rub her eye-ridges.
Shaethe, still sitting on her bed, giggles and shakes her head. "That's Lian, always brown nosing with people." She's grinned broadly as you look over at her, and she laughs again at the brown's plaintive cry as he wings over and lands next to her. She reached out a hand, scooping him into her lap on top of her wet towel and massaging his shoulders just below his wings. "And this poor man never gets enough attention when her highness is around." You smile as well, turning back to 'her highness'. "Well, lady Lian, it was nice to meet you." You take your hand away and she almost seems to whimper for a moment before turning back to Shaethe and chirping what is doubtlessly a question. Shaethe smiles and nods, sending a warm feeling towards her flits. Lian croons and jumps into the air, disappearing once again. Shaethe picks up the brown with both hands. "You too, Haeron." She tosses him into the air and he catches himself by snapping his wings open. He glides with them for a moment, looking over at you, and then disappears as well. "Back to sun themselves," she explains with a light smile. She stands up, picking up her towel. "Haeron is the eldest of the two, named after the sibling of one of the founders of Haethis Hold. I found his name in one of the old records as a child, when they were converting them all to new ones. I liked it and so it stuck to him." She tossed the towel onto the table, then sat down across from you. "Lian got her name from the Headwoman, who was my foster-mother for a time, Shikalian." You nod, smiling. "Well, firelizards are wonderful pets to have when one doesn't have a dragon to accompany them." Shaethe grinned back at you. "I'm looking forward to the real thing." |
