Den of the Watch Whers

You step hesitantly into the large cavern. This is the home of the watch whers of Asura Weyr. There've been so many terrible stories of people wandering into a wher's den uninvited and getting hurt and even getting kil-

"Shhhhh... Don't move." You jump, your eyes practically popping out of your head. The only light in the cavern is that streaming in from the entrance you just walked through, and your shadow blocks out most of that light. A glow is unshielded not far from your face, and in it's relfection you see the face of another person in front of you. He appears in his late twenties, and he's so tall he seems to tower over you. His blonde hair is rather rugged, and the glows dance across his brown eyes.

He'd seem extremely frightening if he wasn't grinning at you like a fool.

"If you want to be in here you have to whisper." He speaks softly, shielding the glows a bit more as you adjust to the darkness. You can now tell that the cavern is riddled with smaller openings all around it. One is covered by a curtain, and it's your guess that that is were this man must sleep and live. "My name is Sosi. I'm the resident wher-keeper around here. Pro'ly the only one in this Weyr you could find to do it. They're not that bad, honestly. Just a little grumpy at times. Krysi is the most intelligent, though not very by queen standards. They're not as angry right now, in fact most of them are pro'ly sleeping."

You hear a low growl, and strain your eyes, guessing that this must be Krysi. Instead, you see an ugly, deformed blue wher staring at you, his upper lip pulled up in a snarl. He settles down immediately as Sosi walks over to him, bending down to put a reassuring hand on his head. "This is Howler. He's the main guardian here. He was the first wher I ever bonded to. Their intellectually kind of like firelizards, and often you can bond to more than one. You have to keep them seperate though, they're fiercely territorial. Some of them can live together, but only if they're mated."

Your eyes wander at all the openings in the wall, and you notice your breath has quickened. So many dens! You ask if he's Impressed to them all, and he laughs in a low, dry, noise. "No, no, no. Only to three of them. The others weren't Impressed by anyone. The three I am Impressed to, however, must communicate with them somehow. They don't seem to mind me much, the un-Impressed, but they're still mighty fidgety." He steps back, eyeing the openings. "So, where do you want to go first?"
